The country’s leading business conglomerate Safwan Bashundhara Global has announced its entry into the fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) sector with the launch of Bashundhara Toiletries.
The venture aims to bolster the presence of local brands in a market predominantly dominated by foreign companies. The launch event took place on Sunday at International Convention City Bashundhara (ICCB) in the city.
Addressing the inauguration as the chief guest, Founder & Chairman of SBG Safwan Sobhan highlighted the substantial market for toiletries in the local market, estimated at Tk 200 billion.
He urged consumers to support local brands, stating, “Why do we use foreign
brands when our local companies introduce quality products?”
He emphasized that patronizing domestic products would help retain capital within the country, fostering economic growth.
He further shared the success of Bashundhara tissue products, which are exported to 25 countries, augmenting Bangladesh’s foreign exchange reserves.
The endeavor to venture into toiletries is driven by a similar spirit to offer high-quality, affordable products through an extensive distribution network.
Deputy Managing Director, Mustafizur Rahman, informed that the company has set up plant to produce a diverse array of consumer products, including cosmetics and oral care items. He expressed optimism that Bashundhara Toiletries would soon begin exporting, contributing further to the nation’s foreign exchange reserve.
The company showcased a variety of home care, personal care, hair care, and oral care products at the event, including Bashundhara Power Wash Detergent Powder, Bashundhara Xtreme Toilet Cleaner, Bashundhara Lit Dish Wash Liquid and Bar, Bashundhara Air Freshener, Bashundhara Xtreme Plant Fiber Coil, and Bashundhara Smilezy Toothpaste.
The launch was attended by Bashundhara Toiletries chief sales officer Mohammad Masudur Rahman, chief financial officer Mohammad Kamrul Hasan, company secretary Mohammad Majedul Islam, head of marketing Mohammad Alauddin and deputy manager Shoaib Mahmud, among other high officials.
